Leisure Day Weekend in Tahoe

describes our long weekend more accurately than Labor Day Weekend.  The boys found fun ways to amuse themselves.  Jake loved an indoor tent built by cool Aunt Marcy.

They had fun creating treasure hunts in Grandma and Poppy's Tahoe house that kept them busy for what seemed like hours.  They even found fun in taking the shuttle up to Northstar Village for dinner.  The store owners are awesome and put things like blocks and giant sand boxes in front of their stores to keep the kids entertained while grown-ups take turn browsing.

We even met Peter's request to make it to the Annual Rib Cook-Off in Reno.  Vendors come from far and near.  One year, we had ribs from Texas and this year, we had them from Tennessee.  The ribs were nothing shy of spectacular.  Apparently, 500,000 other people think so too (their estimate for the number of people in attendance this year).

The kids enjoyed playing games and winning stuffed animals.

PJ even got autographs from a couple of retiered 49er Football players.

Here, Bubba meets Bubba (Paris):

From what I hear, he couldn't have been any nicer to our Bub.  He signed the football:  "To Little Bubba."

On our drive home, PJ asked if America celebrated "Labor Day" to honor those that work hard - like his dad.  It won't be the last time, but I had to check on the Internet to make sure I answered correctly.  Sure enough, Labor Day has evolved from the day that recognizes labor organizations to one as a day of rest and end of the summer parties.  Someone should notify Benicia Unified School District because we've been in school for over a week already and it feels quite laborious some days.  : /
