Monster Truck Mania

When it was time for PJ to pick his birthday party theme, he gently let me know that he was getting a bit too old to feature a photo of him in his invitation.  *Sigh*  The party is for him . . .  so he was pleased with the final result:

This time, I walked around with my camera but the kids were so distracted that I tried not to take away from the fun by making them stop for pictures.

Along with the "big boy" invitation were games he chose and his favorite source of entertainment - Legos.  The kind folks at Play-Well TEKnologies helped the kids construct "Monster Truck Battlers" - PJ couldn't have been happier.

Jake had fun, too - he even asked me if his next birthday party could be all about Monster Trucks so I'm not sure what the "thumbs down" was about except that he had to wait until we were ready to do the cake.

PJ had 2 wishes for his party:  1) ice cream cake (that he appreciated being able to design - thanks Baskin Robbins); and 2) a pinata.  We won't be entertaining the idea of doing one of them again - can you guess which one?

Yeah . . . that wasn't a wise choice - especially with 30+ kids.  But they were all good kids and I'll never forget the hug of gratitude and words of thanks I received when Aunt Marcy brought PJ home after we finished cleaning up at the party.

But we will definitely continue to order cookies from Lisa - aren't these spectacular?

Luckily, I have a bunch of family and friends that always help out and don't think I'm too crazy to want to host these parties (at least they don't say it out loud).  : )

  1. Your parties are always fantastic. You are the hostess with the mostess, the mommy with the mostess, and the friend with the mostess. Your kids are *lucky* to have you!!
