Great San Francisco restaurants are not quite up PJ's alley just yet so he happily enjoyed a burger from Taylor's Refreshers (I guess it's called Gotts now) and an Uncle Rob favorite, a black and white shake (even though it might have been 50 degrees out). We didn't get a chance to make it to Union Square to see the tree and the windows at Macy's but we did see the ice skating rink at Justin Herman Plaza and walked around to admire the decorations by the Embarcadero Center.
Then we were off . . .
Potty Humor in a musical, what's not to love? PJ's first trip to a Broadway show was perfect for an 8-year old boy. He even wanted to take the picture with Shrek and Donkey after the show.
Peter grew up with exposure to the fine arts by his mom (and Poppy went too). I grew up a little rough around the edges and my experience was similar to Poppy's preference - Saturdays and Sundays would be spent watching football (or some other spectator sport).
Grandma (and both of her boys) still enjoy the theater and so Peter has renewed season tickets to the Best of Broadway and has exposed Tori to the finest since I met her. I still remember clearly the first time I had the pleasure of meeting Grandma and Poppy when we went to see the Nutcracker with Tori. The second time I went with them was after we all ventured over to my old stomping grounds in Chicago for a visit to the American Girl store. Here is Tori at 8 years old . . .
Peter waited in lines and did whatever he had to do to get the extras for her, too. Time has a way of flying too fast!
And now, here she is appearing in her own performances
and is featured in our local paper.
The kids are lucky, not only to be exposed to the fine arts, but also because they have such a fine father. ; )
