Despite the overcast and freezing cold temperatures, we survived. And it didn't hurt that they served hot chocolate and donuts at the meet.
But I would be lying if I didn't admit that I'm ready for school to start and for all of us to return to a more regimented sleeping schedule.
I am proud of PJ that he swam the same 3 events that he started out swimming: butterfly, kickboard and freestyle. I'm also grateful that Coach Debbie wrote on PJ's certificate to come back and swim next year.
But I would be lying if I didn't admit that I'm ready for school to start and for all of us to return to a more regimented sleeping schedule.
Grandma, Poppy and Marcy kindly brought Jake to the meet later so he didn't have to freeze with us while we waited. He enjoyed sitting with the other younger siblings to cheer on PJ.
But poor Jake kept telling his Dad that he wanted to "do swim team too." Maybe next year . . . Instead, he got to swim a little during the pool party that wrapped up our swim season.
I've got the younger one asking to do what the older one is doing and the older one trying to get away with swimming in the baby pool with the younger one. When I reminded PJ of the rules for the baby pool, he replied "But Mom, Rule #1 applies to me - you're supervising me!" Luckily, I was quick on my feet and told him that the two rules are connected with an "and" not on "or."
