Today, Jake took PJ with him to his swim lesson for the first time. It's managed by Little Dippers and while the teacher isn't as warm and fuzzy as the teachers he's used to at preschool, I have no doubt he'll learn to swim. He went from crying/whimpering on the way to lessons for the first month to showing off for big brother today.
He had no qualms about jumping in . . .
and swimming - -
the whole 20 feet!!
It's amazing what a 3 1/2 year old can learn in 2 months.
He also has no fear of jumping off the diving board -
I missed out on the opportunity to catch him going in, but he really did do it. : )
At this lesson, we learned that he can float on his back on his own - this time for a count to 20!

I'll have to say - PJ was impressed (and so was I). I do have the reward system in place for him, too. PJ remembered that he was 4 years old before he would even put his head under water much less jump off a diving board. He's thinking about taking lessons at Little Dippers in the fall, too (perhaps a little concerned that Jake will learn to swim better than him soon). I reminded him that everyone is good at different things. I hope he's okay with that.

Nice. I still remember watching my parents throw Leo into a pool and I thought for sure they were trying to drown the baby! Too this day I'm not that comfortable in water.
