"Wow!" is what Jake exclaimed when he first set foot on the flight deck of the USS Midway. He has been on it before, but in fairness, he was only one year old then.
My boys love planes, trains and pretty much all modes of transportation. Teaching the boys about that stuff is usually Dad's forte, but I did my best and took them to explore this amazing aircraft carrier while poor Dad sat in a conference room without windows learning about banking law stuff.
The aircraft carrier has a lot of climb aboard cock-pits. This is the E-2 Hawkeye (I think):
Sorry - all of the planes start to look the same to me. I did think this helicopter with two propellers was somewhat distinct and the boys enjoyed climbing in it.
This was PJ's favorite:
Jake's favorite, was of course, blue:
And last, but not least, they knew which one was Dad's favorite - an F-14 (Tomcat, I think):
I thought it was ironic that PJ took a picture in front of the plane with a Shamrock wearing a Lakers T-shirt.
PJ's favorite part of the day was getting a hug from Jake - mine was watching it happen. : )
They also thought it was fun to pretend to be pilots.
I'm sure we'll be back to visit the Midway when Dad is done with his conference. Until then - we're out!
